Fairfax Virginia -- The James Vick Foundation, in partnership with the Northern Virginia Extreme Hockey club, is pleased to announce the Spring Hockey Cup 2024, a free Field Hockey Tournament for club teams.
Set on the amazing campus of George Mason University, the event will mark the first time in history that a JVF team has traveled to the Northern Virginia Area, the home of James Vick himself.
Founded in 2018, the James Vick Foundation has served thousands of children in the Northeast region of the country, and the organization could not be more excited to partner with the NOVA extreme to deliver a competitive, and enriching experience for the athletes.
When reached for comment, JVF Field Hockey Director Christian Vick, a Virginia native, was excited for the foundation, and the athletes.
"This is a dream event for me, our athletics program has roots in Virginia, the idea, the implementation of our mission, started in Northern Virginia. I played in regional high school basketball championships at George Mason. To return home, fully fund an event for NOVA FH clubs, and give our athletes a chance to compete on a big stage is the ultimate. I also am excited to give my family, and friends my of family the chance to finally see the JVF experience in person. I am also happy for our team, a collection of athletes that are so hungry to compete against the best, now they have their chance.
I applaud Katie Stribling, and the NOVA Extreme for collaborating with us to create an event the families will never forget, Katie's vision, and hard work has created an amazing opportunity for all the young women involved!"
The Spring Hockey Cup will follow an 11 V 11 format, games will be 4 ten-minute quarters with a short halftime. There will be NO TIES, all ties go directly to a penalty shootout.
*The Spring Hockey Cup will be accepting additional teams, but space is limited, so please direct all inquiries to either the contact form on this website, or the NOVA Extreme Field Hockey club.
