New Haven -- James Vick Foundation sports is pleased to reveal the official draw for the 2024 Yale Series Championship presented by Liberty Bank!
As the signature event of JVF athletics, the 2024 Yale Series Championship will be the most competitive public facing spectacle in the history of the organization. Some of the most talented Field Hockey athletes in the country will do battle for the Beverly Vick Trophy, and they will do so in the name of partnership, love, and community.
All games, including the championship tournament, and the Final Four, will be played on the campus of Yale University at the world class, Field Hockey specific, Johnson Field.
Joining the James Vick Foundation for the Yale Series Group Stage will be the HTC Hockey Club from Madison Connecticut, The AIM Field Hockey Club from Newtown Connecticut, the CT Elite Field Hockey Club from Stamford Connecticut, The Competitive Edge Field Hockey Club from Trumbull Connecticut, and The New York Hockey Club from Westchester Country New York.
The Foundation wants to thank all of the club directors for having such vision, and believing in this impossible idea.
All Group Stage programs will participate in 4 group stage games split across two groups, based on the results, teams will be seeded for the championship tournament.
In addition to the clubs joining the event for the Group Stage, will be four teams that receive a special exemption for the championship tournament May 19th, 2024.
Clubs receiving a special exemption will be organizations that are at least 100 miles from New Haven Connecticut, and unable to fully participate in the Group Stage.
In a statement, Yale Series Tournament Director Christian Vick expressed disbelief an event of this magnitude had become a reality.
"We as an organization are over the moon that all of these clubs are coming together to celebrate women in sport, to promote a healthy lifestyle, and most of all, to compete for a community-based championship. A championship that does not require the families, or the participating organizations, to pay absurd tournament fees. Our mission of free sports programming will never be more dynamic than it will be during this competition.
We are especially grateful to our visionary partners at Liberty Bank, For close to 200 years, Liberty Bank has impacted the Connecticut community in the most positive ways imaginable. They are truly a bank of the people, and the Yale Series is a shining example of their continued commitment to the people they serve. We are honored, and humbled, that they have joined us to provide this once in lifetime opportunity.
I also want to applaud Yale University, what a moment, what awesome support from the one of the greatest academic institutions on the planet. Kudos to the families and children of the James Vick Foundation, our benefactors, and friends for working so hard to make this dream possible.
The sights and sounds of so many happy young women playing for something bigger than themselves, unconcerned with cost, will be a transcendent moment for this organization. The championship will also be a transformative moment for the sport of Field Hockey, a snapshot of what the sport could look like if everyone was allowed to play. On behalf of the Vick foundation, we want to wish all of the teams, coaches, families, volunteers, and supporters the best of luck."
The Yale Series Group Stage will kick off on April 21st, then continue April 28th, May 5th, May 12th, and conclude with the championship tournament on May 19th, 2024.
As the very first free national tournament in the history of the sport, the foundation will be embarking on a massive development campaign to cover ALL of the costs for the athletes, and organizations. We welcome all sponsors, potential benefactors, and community leaders to get involved, you can also please share official fundraising hub for the Yale Series Championship!
