Bethany Connecticut -- The James Vick Foundation is pleased to announce that the 2025 Scholarship Process for our competitive field hockey program is now underway!

After a spectacular 2024, the JVF Field Hockey program has made a full scale commitment to competition, and will be seeking committed competitive field hockey athletes to join our mission, our program, and the JVF Dragons team.

Starting August 4th, and over the next 3 months the foundation will be evaluating young women all over Connecticut, and based on that evaluation we will select 12 athletes to join the JVF Dragons for the 2025 Club Field Hockey season.

The JVF Dragons, after a Final Four appearance at the 2024 Yale Series, and consecutive tournament titles in two years, will be taking a major step up in competition in 2025. The Dragons will travel to Disney World January 24th to January 26th, they will host the 2025 Yale Series Tournament Championship in April, and for the first time ever, the Dragons will compete in 2025 RCCS regionals in their first ever bid to reach the National Championship Tournament.

With returning players currently on the active roster, the Dragons will be filling roster spots at every level of the field for the 2025 season, those athletes will be awarded scholarships as the high school season unfolds. The awards will be announced to the public on this website in November of 2024, and the team will be come together for the first time at the JVF Winter Gala in December of 2024.

Scholarships will include a fully funded USA Field Hockey membership for athletes that don't have one, warmups, practice gear, game uniforms, team bags, practice time, the tournament schedule, a small classroom development dynamic, on and off the field support, professional coaching, exposure, the same group of girls (kind and humble girls) all year long as oppose to a collection of guest players, and recruiting support.

The scholarship also includes support from our marketing department, and various forms of assistance on a case by case basis.

Some other things to consider for the 2025 Scholarship cycle

  • We strongly prefer athletes that are fully committed to Field Hockey. This is a unified veteran club with chemistry, and commitment. The girls currently on the team have truly committed to each other, our mission and the sport. Any athletes that are interested in joining the ball club need to make sure they have the time, appreciation, patience, commitment, and passion to play the sport of Field Hockey at the highest level.

  • The program will be evaluating athletes that play full time for their varsity high school teams as the level of competition in 2025 will require that level of experience and field time.

  • We need to make clear that this isn't a high school team, or a recreational team, it also not a normal club either. The JVF Dragons are a highly competitive club team with established player/parent leadership, and a proven track record. We believe in love, competition, development, hardwork, not making excuses, integrity, and commitment. Families and athletes seeking to join the Dragons must understand this prior to applying. In running a college style program, with a team mindset, as well college level athletes, we will have the same expectations a college program would. Embracing roles, competition, understanding your job, having fun, waiting your turn, pulling your weight, responding to coaching, showing up to practice, respecting the organization/staff/mission, loving your teammates, being communicative about concerns as well as earning merit on and off the field.

  • 100% of our roster will be composed of athletes being recruited to play in college, or that have the ability/potential to be recruited, this will factor into our evalations.

  • Beyond the seniors already on the active roster, we will only be selecting one additional senior to join them as we are prioritizing the younger classes during this particular cycle.

We want to wish all the athletes already involved in this process the best of luck. Those that wish to get involved can fill out this application, once it's submitted we will schedule you for an onsite evaluation at a high school game this fall!
